At 11:30 this morning we got started on our trip.. Plans were to stop in Opelika , Al. and stay at a RV park that we at noticed in our park directory.
However after arriving there it seemed like it was grossly misrepresented . After being shown to a site, I politely told the manager that we had decided to go on further down the road. It does not happen often.

In fact this is only the second time we remember of having felt this about a park in all the hundreds we have visited.

As what normally happens in these cases, God led us to Lakepoint State Park in Eufaula, Alabama. The price was half price of the earlier park and it was much prettier.

Immediately we were greeted by 4 raccoons, a couple of hawks, deer, and a dead rattlesnake (the best kind), and of course the ever present squirrel’s and crows.

After getting settled on our site, and taking a little nap, we road around in the park. It is beautiful. It has camping, cabins, marina, golf, tennis and a huge picnic area..

After touring the park we went into Eufaula and drove by some of the old Antebellum homes. It truly takes you back to a simpler time. Huge oak trees with moss hanging in them and people actually out with their families walking down the sidewalks. It was a very enjoyable excursion.

The following morning we arose early and got busy to travel on. At the speed of light our travels got underway again about noon…..So much for getting an early start…Too be continued
