No updates the last few days because no internet connection.
I will catch You up in a hurry though…….After leaving Willis, Texas we traveled up Interstate 45 for about 90 miles and got off to cut across to Hillsboro which is close to Lake Whitney. We stayed 2 nights at Lake Whitney RV Resort, which is one of our member parks…..
One of the sites to see nearby is in Glen Rose, Texas, which is about 35 miles from the campground….The Creation Museum….was opened in 1984 to counter the evolutionists theory concerning the origins of mankind. The museum claims to have proof that man and dinosaurs were around at the same time. They do have what appears to be a human footprint made inside a dinosaurs track and fossilized. Another museum of the same type just opened in Petersburg, Kentucky.
As important as all this is, the most compelling reason for visiting Glen Rose is to celebrate an event that happened around 47 years ago.
That is when and where my 1959 Chevrolet was sold new. ………..Yes, most of You know that old truck and when she was brand new, the first owner walked into the Chevy dealer in Glen Rose Texas and plopped down about $2500 for this all metal truck…Quite an event.. huh?
Ok, now on with the update…..
After leaving this area we still stayed on the back roads and traveled to Comanche, Texas…….We stayed at a Corps of Engineer Campground on Lake Proctor for one night…
And today, October 14, we came up to Ranger Texas for one night. I forwarded our mail to Sweetwater Texas and if it all works out we can catch up with the mail tomorrow. Sweetwater is about 100 miles west from here. |
