Well, our mail finally made it today, so we have no more reason to stay in Sweetwater…As nice as it is we need to press on.

We went down I-20 for a short way and turned on Hiway 84 West. It’s a nice 4 lane hiway that goes to Lubbock, where we stopped for lunch. While in Lubbock we talked to Bill King. It was good to hear he was doing better. Heading on up Hiway 84 it has very little traffic on it and several neat towns along the way. One of our favorite is Littlefield, Texas…It happens to be the town that Waylon Jennings is from. They have a nice free campground named after him and You can stay for 4 four days without any cost. Although we did not stay there this time , we did ride by to look at it again..

We continued on up Hiway 84 until reaching Clovis, New Mexico and turned on Hiway 60 west.

All day long the wind was blowing very strong and made driving a real chore. Wind gust up to 40 mph and lots of dust and tumbleweeds were blowing around. We made it to Fort Sumner, and as all You probably know, that is where Billy the Kid is buried…..no joke…at least that is this towns claim to fame….

Finding a nice little campground in town, we settled in for the night and quit wrestling the wind for awhile.
