10.02.2007                                                         Here is a Lazy tree we found in Hammond Louisiana.
Yesterday we traveled from Robertsdale, Alabama to Abita Springs Louisiana, which is about 50 miles north of New Orleans.

Today, we took a trip across Lake Ponchartrain by way of the longest bridge over water in the world. It is 24 miles long.
We drove down through the city and out into Ward 9 which was one of the hardest hit parts of town from Hurricane Katrina. Their are still lots of homes not livable and piles of torn out sheetrock and trash still line the sidewalks. It seems everywhere You look are the FEMA trailers. Their must thousands of them scattered throughout the area. The downtown area seems to have recovered pretty good. Lots of people were stirring around and very few parking spots to be found. Overall, from our perspective, lots of improvements have been done and lots of work still taking place. I guess not too bad for living below sea level.
